The Big Cheese

I purchased The Big Cheese in February 2016. With my family background in catering and a love of cheese, I relished the challenge of becoming a cheesemonger and of running my own delicatessen and coffee shop.

The Big Cheese, established 2008, specialises in West Country cheeses and products. Situated in the Somerset village of Porlock, it is set within the Exmoor National Park renowned for its beautiful moorland landscape, woodland, and coastline.

The Big Cheese offers a selection of over 50 varieties of cheese including cow, ewe, goat and buffalo. I stock a wide choice of local jams and chutneys from Somerset and Devon, together with Exmoor Gin, local ciders and beer. Hampers are also available to offer a selection of products making an ideal present or souvenir to take home.

Most of the products sold in the shop can be seen on this website; you can order direct and have them delivered to your doorstep.

The coffee shop serves freshly ground coffee and tea together with a variety of cakes and cream teas.
